A Legacy That Still Moves Us.

Mark Satkiewicz was a passionate father, husband, friend, mentor, and leader - someone whose presence made Steamboat Springs a more welcoming and inclusive place. His impact across the Yampa Valley is still felt today.

Mark was the vision behind SBT GRVL and the driving force of its rise to international prominence. He believed the gravel roads of Routt County were world class and deserved to be shared with the world. He had the vision to make Steamboat not only a ski destination, but a cycling destination - and he turned that vision into reality. Because of his leadership, Steamboat now stands firmly on the global gravel map.

He championed equality and inclusivity for women in professional spaces and brought that same mindset to every ride, race, and powder morning. He pushed himself not just to win, but to grow - and encouraged others to do the same.

His legacy as a cyclist lives on across Strava leaderboards and in the memories of local riders who chased wheels, shared miles, and learned from his example. But his impact extends far beyond personal achievements. The race he launched and built, SBT GRVL, reshaped how the world sees Steamboat and elevated the town onto the international gravel calendar. That accomplishment - paired with his unwavering belief that everyone belonged - defines a legacy that is both global and deeply personal.

Outlaw Gravel honors Mark’s legacy by donating a portion of event proceeds to the Dirt to Snow - Mark Satkiewicz Legacy Fund, which supports bike and snow sport programs and equipment for Routt County youth, helping remove barriers and expanding access.

This ride moves forward because of the impact Mark still has on all of us.

The Dirt to Snow Fund is a Donor Advised Fund of the Yampa Valley Community Foundation

Long before the Dirt to Snow - Mark Satkiewicz Legacy Fund was established, Mark was deeply invested in the values it represents today. He didn’t just talk about equity, access, and inclusion - he supported organizations doing the work and showed up for them consistently.

If Mark’s story resonates with you, we invite you to consider supporting the nonprofit organizations he believed in most, as well as those the fund supports today.
